Now this one is for the game fans. Have you ever noticed how people like to blame video games for the problems of society. It seems to be a growing trend among religious types and conservative politicians to bash video games for anything from school shootings to teen depression. Right now I'm listening to an audio file basically talking about how "addiction" to video games is causing aggressive behavior and defiance against the children's parents, if in fact the gamer happens to be a child. What they refuse to even contemplate is that the parents might not be doing there jobs. I challenge you, and by that I mean anyone, to show me any relation to violent video games and the violence in society, from any demographic. They talk a lot about how video games are "programming" our kids to be desensitized to violence and makes them more violent. I have been playing video games for over twenty years, I don't have an overly violent personality. What I don't get is this, how are these games teaching kids or anyone else to use a gun. Do they show a diagram on how to load it, fire it, and become a good marksmen? No. Is there truly a correlation between violent video games and violence in real life? Not really. I've seen many studies that apparently show this correlation, and I see things like a whopping 4%, Or if you really wanna get serious, 8%. Even if had no stake in this, due to my love of video games, from a purely scientific standpoint, that means nothing, because if you do the same test on people who watch tv OR read the bible, you will get the same results. My point is that people have problems, and it is not unrealistic to think that 1 in 10 people in all of society have violent tendencies. These hardcore conservatives are ridiculous. Many of the people who speak about the evils of video games have no context because they have never even played one. These people have no lives. They move around with there causes just so they have a purpose in there lives. Have your causes, but look at the facts, its not your job to tell me what I can or cannot do. It's not your job to tell me that video games are causing the downfall of society. What was the reason for violence and all the bad stuff before video games? And Please, once again, thickheads, give me some hard examples, something with substance. Ahh, but I digress. Form your own opinions people, don't let others form them for you. Done.
